Guitar & Banjo Lessons
I started taking lessons here because I wanted to pick up a new hobby and continue learning music even after school. My instructor Phil was super knowledgeable and very patient with me every lesson I had. If you’re looking for a great guitar/banjo instructor, definitely ask for Phil! The staff at Philly Music Lessons are very responsive and accommodating when scheduling lessons. They really strive to make this a great place to learn and love your instrument!

Guitar Lessons
As someone who used to play music regularly when I was younger, Philly Music Lessons has been a great way for me to get back to playing the guitar and reconnect with the music I love. Great teachers and flexible schedules and a convenient location.

Guitar Lessons
Joe is a fantastic guitar teacher. My son and husband both take lessons from him, and we see him at our house every week. No matter what, he is always cheerful and kind. He is one of my favorite people in Philadelphia. He single handedly eased our transition to Philly from Seattle and we are so grateful. He is a true gem, not only as a teacher and musician, but as a person. He is flexible, creative, hard-working--an all around standout.

Guitar Lessons
Philly Music Lessons is great! I received a few guitar lessons as a birthday gift from my girlfriend and ended up taking more when those ran out. The office was super helpful in setting the lessons up. They asked me to describe the type of music I was into and what I wanted to learn and set me up with my instructor Collin. Collin is incredibly talented and taught me quite a bit about the guitar. If you are thinking about taking lessons, do yourself a favor and book them at Philly Music Lessons.

Beginners
We work with each student’s goals and interests. Therefore, the path of learning for each student will differ from person to person, changing and evolving over time. Here’s a chord melody beginner students might expect to play about 6 months into learning how to read notes on the guitar (from Mel Bay’s beginner guitar book)
Intermediate to Advanced Students
We work with a variety of intermediate and advanced guitar students. Soloing, improvising, songwriting, theory, performance experience, classical technique, and recording are just some of the avenues for an intermediate or advanced student to take. We need only to get to know you to take you where you want to go! Below is an improvised solo in the Gypsy Jazz style, playing over minor blues chord changes – something an intermediate student might work towards.
