More about our cello teachers:
I teach cello. I am currently a senior Cello Performance major at Temple University where I study with Jeffrey Solow. I am an active performer on the modern cello, baroque cello, and viola da gamba (a string instrument played throughout the Renaissance and Baroque periods). At Temple, I am a member of conTemplum New Music Orchestra and have performed solo works on the SoundPrints concert series. I have performed in Chamber Music Society of Philadelphia masterclasses.
I have performed with the Elysium String Quartet, Fairmount Chamber Ensemble, Chiaroscuro Consort of Viols, Venice Baroque Orchestra, other orchestras in the Philadelphia area, and I have attended various music festivals around the country.
I teach at Philadelphia String Project and Community Music Scholars Program (Temple Music Preparatory Division), and S&S Dream Global Music Studio in Ambler, PA. I teach all ages and tailor my approach to the individual student’s learning style, aptitude, and skill level. Read More About Elena
I teach cello, guitar, and voice. I began playing the cello in 1980 at the age of 9 in the Fairfax County Public School System’s string program in Fairfax County Virginia. I grew up in a very musical household and always had a strong wish to play a musical instrument like my Dad, who is an accomplished guitarist and singer. I picked the cello because I love the low, human sounding range, and because the music teacher who demonstrated it played the theme from the Muppets, my favorite TV show at the time! I continued my studies in the National Symphony Orchestra’s Youth Fellowship Program with cellist, David Teie. In 1993 I graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance with cellist, Stephen Kates and Baroque cellist, Anne Marie Morgan. In 1995 I graduated from Temple University with a Master’s Degree in Music History and studied with cellist, Jeffrey Solow and early musician Robert Weimkin. From 2011 - 2012 I had an Early Childhood Music apprenticeship with Dr. Sally Weaver of Sally’s Music Circle. - Read More About Eve

. I started playing cello at the age of 9 in Fairfax County, Virginia, and studied with Marcio Botelho and Amy Frost-Baumgarten. I attended Brooklyn College where I studied cello performance with Kalin Ivanov and graduated with a minor in music in 2015. While I was classically trained I have performed with an eclectic group of musicians both as a session cellist and a band member, from rap to rock to folk groups. Knowledge of theory and improvisation has always been extremely important to me, and I strive to create a well-rounded curriculum that allows my students to be as creative as possible with their skills. - Read More About Julia
I teach cello
. I grew up taking piano, cello and voice lessons, writing songs and teaching myself to play guitar, which I ended up majoring in at the Berklee College of Music. My passion in music lies in singing and songwriting and I’m very happy to incorporate songwriting into lessons. I’ve taken lessons in traditional classical settings and in much more creative/informal ways. Similarly, I’ve played in a wide variety of styles and settings, from classical music in orchestras to punk music in rock bands. Because my experience with music was partially very traditional and partially self-motivated and based on intuition, I like to make sure I connect with students in the way they learn best. Some people like to learn the theory and see the sheet music, some people prefer to listen, improvise and experiment. There’s no wrong way to learn to play, as long as you’re practicing with the kind of technique that keeps your body healthy! In addition to teaching, you can find me around Philly playing with several bands, including my original project Ellen Siberian Tiger, Mother Moses, Two Girls and Manic Pixi. - Read More About Ellen

, and piano
. I've been playing music on various instruments for nearly twenty years. I come from a family of musicians and grew up listening to a strange combination of classical music and the Beatles. I played in orchestras and ensembles all throughout grade school. I earned a BA in music production from the College of Media and Communication at Temple University, where I also electively studied music theory and technique. I started teaching while working at a music shop after graduating. I picked up some lessons as a substitute teacher when needed and quickly realized that I loved teaching. My students are a constant reminder of why I fell in love with music in the first place. I've learned that there is no one method that works for every student. I teach using a blended method catered to each student's individual needs, while making sure we don't forget to have fun! - Read More About Jenny
