More about our cello teachers:
I teach cello. I am currently a senior Cello Performance major at Temple University where I study with Jeffrey Solow. I am an active performer on the modern cello, baroque cello, and viola da gamba (a string instrument played throughout the Renaissance and Baroque periods). At Temple, I am a member of conTemplum New Music Orchestra and have performed solo works on the SoundPrints concert series. I have performed in Chamber Music Society of Philadelphia masterclasses.
I have performed with the Elysium String Quartet, Fairmount Chamber Ensemble, Chiaroscuro Consort of Viols, Venice Baroque Orchestra, other orchestras in the Philadelphia area, and I have attended various music festivals around the country.
I teach at Philadelphia String Project and Community Music Scholars Program (Temple Music Preparatory Division), and S&S Dream Global Music Studio in Ambler, PA. I teach all ages and tailor my approach to the individual student’s learning style, aptitude, and skill level. Read More About Elena
I teach cello. I completed my music performance degree at Boyer College of Music and Dance in the spring of 2016. Shortly thereafter I was accepted for the pilot year of the IRIS Orchestra Artist Fellowship Program in Memphis, TN where I did extensive work in the underserved communities of the Shelby County School District. Every week I gave individual lessons, group sessions, lectures, master classes, workshops, and many performances. In addition to playing and teaching cello I am also a songwriter and a composer; I very often supplement my teaching by writing pieces custom-tailored to my students’ needs and ability level. I returned from Memphis in June of this year, so I have a lot of setup work and exploring to do! In these next few years I will be working with various groups in classical, jazz, funk, blues, folk, Latin, and exploratory music. I am also developing a series of teaching techniques and philosophies that I am eager to share with students and audiences alike. Whether performing or teaching, I love to make music an experience for my students and audience. - Read More About Ajibola
I teach cello
. I grew up taking piano, cello and voice lessons, writing songs and teaching myself to play guitar, which I ended up majoring in at the Berklee College of Music. My passion in music lies in singing and songwriting and I’m very happy to incorporate songwriting into lessons. I’ve taken lessons in traditional classical settings and in much more creative/informal ways. Similarly, I’ve played in a wide variety of styles and settings, from classical music in orchestras to punk music in rock bands. Because my experience with music was partially very traditional and partially self-motivated and based on intuition, I like to make sure I connect with students in the way they learn best. Some people like to learn the theory and see the sheet music, some people prefer to listen, improvise and experiment. There’s no wrong way to learn to play, as long as you’re practicing with the kind of technique that keeps your body healthy! In addition to teaching, you can find me around Philly playing with several bands, including my original project Ellen Siberian Tiger, Mother Moses, Two Girls and Manic Pixi. - Read More About Ellen

. The instruments that make up a string quartet! I offer thirteen years of experience playing the cello and five years of teaching experience. I received my Bachelors in Cello Performance at the University of Georgia where I studied with David Starkweather. Recently, I received my Masters in String Pedagogy at Temple University where I studied extensively with Jeffrey Solow. I studied abroad in Italy at the Conservatorio A. Vivald in Alessandria, Italy with Claudio Merlo. In Italy, I had the chance to perform solo works and tour with the conservatory orchestra. I have been featured in masterclasses with Narek Hakhnazaryan, Nick Canellakis, Mikhail Milman, Mihai Tetel, Michael Mermagen, David Finckel, and Duo Sonidos. I was a member of Levon Ambartsumian's ARCO chamber orchestra and recorded and performed with the ensemble. I have also play the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina under the baton of Boston Pop's Keith Lockhart. While in Georgia, I taught for the University of Georgia Community Music School and the Eugene Lee School of Music where I would teach privately, give group classes, and sectionals for the orchestra. I taylor my knowledge and experience as a musician to the individuality of the student. The student's musicality is my guide and I find importance in relaxed playing. Along with the teachings of great string players in history, I employ the Suzuki method and Gordon Music Learning Theory in my teaching. -Learn More About Carolina
